Tip: Horse Number 6. Chefino

Chefino has impressed recently with 2 good wins this month including a win in Dubbo where he was 3 wide without cover for alot of the race.

I doubt he will lead early with Lepus Europaeus likely to get good gate speed but I expect Chefino to finish well to make it three win in a row for the gelding.

Driven by Amanda Turnbull, Chefino has only started to come into some form so some juicy might be on offer.

Tip: Horse Number 1. Yoora Dill

I like this uniquely named gelding today comming from the inside of the front row.

Yoora Dill should hold the lead early and try to slow the pace down. Driver Caleb Lewis has had some bad luck on Yoora Dill lately including a shocking start in the Stawell Cup earlier this month where he rallied to come 5th in a fast paced 2nd half of the race.

Today’s tip of the day will represent some good value odds but don’t hold back, I believe if he can lead into the home straight he will have a very good shot at winning the race.

Race: 2. Southern Queensland Plumbing Pace

Tip: Horse Number 6. Blacks A Fake

Possibly the best harness racer ever will take to the track again in what could be the nearest horse to a shaw thing going around.

9yo Blacks A Fake has gotten better with age winning 6 from 6 including the Gold Coast Cup and the Qld Pacing Championships.

Driven by the talented Natalie Rasmussen, Blacks A Fake should get good gate speed and hold the lead at the bell and should cruise home.

With sub 30 second quarters on regular occasions Blacks A Fake will start short priced favourite but load up on the gelding and watch him come home, likely without the touch of the whip.

With the bookies likely to be offering very short odds make sure to check Betfair’s odds here as they will be better than the traditional bookmaker.

Race: 2. Summertime Chicken Pace

Time: 7:00pm

Distance: 1760m

Tip: Horse Number 3. Cheri Cullen

Tonights race has Cheri Cullen written all over it. She scored earlier this month at Bathurst after trailing 3 wide for some of the race. She is position beautifully on the front row and should lead early.

I can’t see anyone beating her from there. Cheri Cullen and driver Bernie Hewitt consistently finish in the top 3, placing 7 of their last nine starts.

The mare is a strong finisher and should make it 2 wins in a row in tonight’s heat 4 of the Divisive Championship.

Track: Ballarat Racecourse

Race: 8. Sportsbet Ballarat Cup

Time: 4:00pm

Distance: 2200m

Tip: Horse Number 4. Dandaad

Ridden by Chris Symons and trained Bart Cummings, Dandaad has the metro racing form leading into todays listed Ballarat Cup. At one stage connections of Dandaad were slightly confident he would get a start in the Melbourne Cup, but the result’s didn’t come their way.

He had a good run in Geelong last month where he was just come short of winning with a gallant effort 3 wide coming into the straight. He fought on strongly for 2nd.

Carrying 54.5 this time around which is 1.5kg more than he is used to may hinder him but I think he will cope now that he dosent have to contend with horses like Alcopop and Shocking like he has done so in the last month.

He has drawn pretty good from barrier 7 and should be able to settle into the race without to much hassles.

Currently he is paying around $5.50 with the bookies but with $6.00 with Betfair they are the place to go.

Track: Ballarat Harness Racecourse

Race: 7. Bruty Cabinetry & Construction Pace

Time: 9:30pm

Distance: 1710m

Tip: Horse Number 2. Jewel Of Manwarra

Jewel Of Manwarra’s barrier draw on the inside of the front row will be the eventual key to the 5yo winning tonight where driver Glen Craven should be able to lead early on in the race.

He has been in some good form lately placing in his last two starts. Light fast final quarters has given Jewel Of Manwarra a great chance in Ballarat tonight and if he can replicate his efforts and hold the lead during the race he will be very hard to run down.

Race: 5. The Tesa-Robert Thompson Cup

Tip: Horse Number 3. Taysman

Today’s feature race at Newcastle has a number of decent up and comers that could make a name for them selves and I predict Taysman to take the honors.

The 5yo gelding can finish strongly if given the opportunity so if he gets a good run he should be up the front at the line.

He had a shocker after resuming last month at Newcastle where jockey Alex Stokes all but pull him up. I think he will bounce back today with a win.

Currently he is paying $3.00 on the tote but I expect that to change a fair bit with odds of around $5.00 with Betfair.

Track: Sandown Racecourse

Race: 6. The Sandown Guineas

Time: 3:30pm

Distance: 1600m

Tip: Horse Number 9. Majestic Music

Majestic Music has the experience backed up with some impressive wins to her name including the Lexus Hybrid Plate which is one of the important lead-up races to the Melbourne Cup.

Surprisingly enough, Majestic Music is carrying 2kg less (53.5kg) than the field which may be the difference between winning and losing the Group 2 race.

Jockey Clare Lindop will be confident coming from barrier 4 and should settle Majestic Music early midfield. I expect her to wait for the 250m mark to pounce on the pack and will be one to look for at the post.

Race: 8. K-Rock 3yo Pace

Tip: Horse Number 1. Renate Christa

Drawing the perfect inside on the front row Renate Christa look like she will get her first win tonight in Geelong.

She has shown that she can mix it with quality horses and just dropped short last month with a gallant effort in the sprint lane.

Renate Christa is trained and driven by the talented Geoff Webster and I expect him to protect the lead early and hang in for the win.

Track: Seymour Racecourse

Race: 6. Spring Classic

Time: 4:00pm

Distance: 2000m

Tip: Horse Number 1. Davcon

After seeing Davcon’s last start in Sale I think he has the pace to take out the listed Spring Classic today.

The 5yo gelding hasn’t had much luck recently but numerous times has bolted home in the final 200m closing in hard.

Michael Rodd is on board today and if he can get Davcon in a nice position coming into the 400m I think he will blitz the field to win by a couple of lengths.
